Augmenting the Devotion and the Nature

Augmented Reality (AR) technology stays in the trough of disillusionment of Gartner’s hype cycle 2018 and is followed by the mixed reality, a term coined by Microsoft. It has a wide range of applications in all industries and we believe that AR has an ability to make us reach a balance between the times’ humans spend with digital devices and the real world. Technically, AR is putting the 3D objects created in form of 0s & 1s on the real-life objects made of atoms and molecules. It is mostly dependent upon the screens as the 3D object views update in runtime. Though various other hardware setups have been tried by people, the most frequent one is a mobile phone, making it an excellent platform to execute a use case of AR. We have come across many applications of augmented reality ...

Takeaways from Indian startup delegation to CEATEC – 2018 in Tokyo

NASSCOM participated in “CEATEC – 2018” in Tokyo, 16th-19th Oct. CEATEC is one of the best platform for both hardware and software companies looking for partners, customers as well as investors in the Japanese ecosystem. This year our delegation size was 15 companies – could have been 2 startups more but unluckily enough their visas got rejected. Out of these 15, ten startups were fully sponsored by Meity and Jetro (as last year) and 5 travelled on their own. In all, the overall participation of the audience was as high – 1.4 lakh (tentatively suggested by organizers on day 4).   On day 0, at the pre-launch networking, it was heartening to see one of the Indian startups from among the previous year participants (Flutura) being recognized for making significant impact in the Jap...

Approaching Escape Velocity

The NASSCOM-Zinnov Startup Report proposes that the state of the startup ecosystem to be just that, and frankly, it isn’t a stretch. Though more than a decade old, the last 5 years in particular have witnessed a blinding pace, what with ~ 7200 – 7700 startups being incepted and the ecosystem clocking high double-digit growth (12 – 15%). It’s even faster than the overall IT industry, which probably explains its great momentum and high interest level among stakeholders. In this year so far (calendar year 2018) it has been quite remarkable. 1200 startups have been added, 8 new Unicorns recognized so far, and funding doubled over the previous year. Adding to this increasing list is the admirable 40% y-o-y growth rate of Advanced Tech Startups which is veritably leading the digital transformati...
