55 job roles from the future

The future of jobs is not as gloomy as many fear. The nature of work will change and so will the skills required for it. But when we say jobs will vanish on a mass scale, we also need to highlight that many more job roles will be created with new technologies and tools coming up.  NASSCOM and BCG went beyond theorizing and analysed 8 technologies to come up with 55 unique job roles that will gain relevancy in near future. Here is an overview of the technologies and the number of new job roles they offer.  We will bring the list of job roles soon too.

Is automation really killing jobs?

IT Cos hired 24% more in May 2017 compared to April. BFSI was at 14% followed by Consulting Services (13%) and Automobile (12%). Read more: PressReader.com – Connecting People Through News  My personal view is that automation will kill monotonous parts of several job roles and provide opportunities and create avenues for more value added work.

How will automation impact jobs?

The jury is out will remain out for some time if we go by numbers and not speculation. During the last few months, sheer speculation and back of the envelope calculations have fed the panic in the job market.   During the debates about H -1B visas, NASSCOM President, R Chandrasekhar said in one of the interviews that hype has gone much the reality. Every year only 20,000 IT professionals go to the US on H1-B. Even if that number dwindles, which has not happened so far, its impact won’t be significant for an industry that employs nearly 4 million. We are approaching automation in much the same way.
