Most retailers need dozens of open positions around the year, and it’s almost impossible to be 100% successful when hiring at this frequency. This potential inaccuracy explains why retail ranks among the top five industries with the highest turnover rate. But there is one problem that gives retailers an even worse headache than recruiting – it is employee retention. Namely, losing a good employee is the worst thing that can happen to a company. You can always change equipment or buy a better tool to improve your retail business, but you can hardly ever find a decent replacement for someone who perfectly understands your products and delivers top-level results. According to the report, over...

Re: GST Registration for freelance consultants who export.

Thank you for the response. So for small time exporters (who are individuals, freelancing) – we are supposed to register, and then pay 18 % GST on our invoices and claim a refund? I don’t think the LUT option is workable for freelancers since it says minimum revenue of 1 Cr.

GST Registration for freelance consultants who export.

Hi, this is Manohar. I am working as a freelance consultant with clients in the US. I have questions regarding the GST registration. Recently i saw this blog – https://community.nasscom.in/community/discuss/current-issues/gst/blog/2017/08/07/no-gst-registration-required-for-expor… It was by Mr. Prashant Thakur from taxworry site. He argued that freelancers with only export and who don’t intend to claim ITC don’t have to register with GSTN. But looks like this article has been taken down now. Any reason why? Can NASSCOM try to get clarity on this from relevant authorities? There are many like me who have this question and some are even taking about quitting this freelancing and look for a regular job due to these uncertainties. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Than...

UK – Conservative Manifesto: Implications for NASSCOM

Theresa May has sent a clear signal that she does not intend to relax her tough line on immigration from when she was at the Home Office. The pledge to reduce migration to the tens of thousands stays.  Implications for NASSCOM May’s increase of the Immigration Skills Charge to £2000 per year is both regressive and damaging to NASSCOM member companies. Coupled with a reaffirmation of her commitment to reducing net migration to below 100,000. However, she has opened up a window of opportunity for NASSCOM and its members by acknowledging that the tech industry is a strategically important one for the UK economy.
