The Global Capability Centres (GCCs) have made extraordinary contributions to their enterprises, the country, and the global services community. They have been part of India story since 1980s, but we have witnessed rapid acceleration only in the last few years. GCCs account for 30% of India’s tech industry 5.4 million employee base and 24% of export revenues, while also accounting for 45% of global GCC headcount.

In India, we have presence of GCCs across various sectors and prominent sectors include aerospace and defence and automotive.

 

Aerospace and Defence GCCs

Some of the top A&D GCCs in India include Collins Aerospace, Boeing, Bombardier, Rolls Royce, Airbus, Thales, Lockheed Martin etc.

Majority of the Aerospace and Defence GCCs in India are present in Bengaluru, followed by NCR and Hyderabad. These three locations account for 80% of the total A&D GCC units in India. Bengaluru and Hyderabad also are home to over 75% of total A&D installed GCC talent in India. Since 2021, new A&D GCCs in India who have set up their centres include Pratt and Whitney and Starburst and those that have expanded their presence include Air Asia, Boeing, and Bombardier. Approximately 50% of the A&D GCCs in India are US headquartered.

 

Automotive GCCs

Similarly for automotive GCCs, some of the top companies present in India include Bosch, Ford, Hyundai, Stellantis, Volvo, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Continental etc.

Majority of the automotive GCCs are present in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai. These first two locations account for over 52% of the total auto GCC units in India. These three locations also house over 85% of the installed automotive GCC talent. Since 2021, new automotive GCCs in India who have set up their centres include Daimler Trucks, Switch, Webasto etc. The GCCs that have expanded their presence in India since 2021 include ZF, Hella, and BorgWarner. Approximately 50% of the automotive GCCs in India are US and Germany headquartered.
