Dear All,

I am writing to share about the recently concluded business delegation to UK. UK is the 2nd largest market for Indian IT industry and the recent political changes, economic & business uncertainties makes it imperative to re-inforce business interest, evaluate sentiments and meet important stakeholders such as government, clients, partners and buyers of technology. Given the market’s importance in our context, two pronged approach via policy advocacy & dialogues and creating business generation platforms go hand in hand. Collectively both feed into each other to create a favourable business environment.

NASSCOM’s Global Trade Development team organized a business delegation to London from 18th – 21st June 2017. The delegation participated at the Global Expansion Summit that was focussed on promoting cross border trade, had interesting themes such as Global Outsourcing in the age of digital, Mobility, Fintech & Innovating abroad. Most importantly the summit had a majority of SME participation from various parts of Europe that gave an opportunity to NASSCOM companies to network, arrive at areas of mutual interest, explore going to market together and other forms of alliance.

GXP Summit saw participation from over 700+ organizations from across Europe many of whom were end users. Additionally NASSCOM exclusive End-user roundtable saw participation from companies representing different sectors like Covestro ( Polymers – spinoff from Bayer), Hutchison, Microsoft, Panasonic, Centrica ( Energy & Utilities) , Sante Fe Global (Relocation services) and leaders of these companies frankly spoke on expectation from partners, opportunity areas in process /efficiency improvement & revenue generation, what makes a company a strategic partner, challenges and roadmap ahead for digital. This was a highly interactive session and found to be very useful as a lot of business insights were shared by the Buy side community in a candid fashion. Additionally networking receptions and sessions with Trade & Investment board were also organised as a part of the program..

The delegation comprised of high percentage of SME and select large companies already present in the UK. As an initial success – SME participants for instance as Mobiloitte ( Delhi), Verity Knowledge ( Hyderabad ) and Netweb Solution ( Vadodara) are at different stages of setting up in the UK and interventions designed by NASSCOM have helped them provide a strong fillip in moving forward with their UK setting up strategy. We will continue to track developments with them and others going forward.
