But, when there comes a global chaotic situation like Pandemic COVID-19, you may have to work from home for a longer duration which can be quite difficult.

If you have worked from home for a longer duration previously, you will understand that it is not as easy as saying the word itself. In WFH, lots of distractions are there to affect the work culture that you didn’t face while working in the office premises. It can affect your work structure, constancy, production, and delivery.

But, these obstacles are possible to overcome with just a few efforts of yours. Even, it is found in many types of research that work from home can increase the productivity of the individual as well as the entire organization.

To perform well-managed work from home, here are a few guidelines that you can follow.

Top 5 tips for performing quality work from home

1. Create your own workspace in the home

The first feature that you should look out for while working from home is an empty space free from all other distractions. You may think of working from your bedroom or living room. But, it is accessible by everyone else too, isn’t it? With so many traffics, it is easy to get distracted. So, first find a spot that is least used or visited by your family members like a spare bedroom, etc. Make sure that the spot you are choosing does not have an open window or door ahead or beside. Or else, your eyes will easily get distracted by the movements outside the room.

Regardless of the area of the space, make yourself comfortable first and then commit yourself to work at that particular space every day. This will make your mind to adjust to the location for just one time. It is often found difficult to adjust to new a location every day while working which is possible to overcome with this process. So, you will be able to concentrate on your work more.

2. Ensure to invest in proper technology

Yes, like any office structure, your home needs some small investments for proper workflow. Your office may provide you with proper accessories for working from home like a laptop, mouse, etc. But, you need to have a good internet connection, routers, WLAN connection, etc. So, make sure to have them at your place for uninterrupted workflow or immediate action if the situation calls for like we are facing right now because of the COVID-19 crisis.

3. Determine the real work timings

It is very much understandable that when you WFH, it might not be possible to give the same performance you give at office premises while maintaining the office timings. There are various factors that can become an obstacle in your constant workflow while at home. The main problem occurs with the family’s misunderstanding as they think you are free if you are at home. They might not get the idea of working from home is as same as working from the office premises.

So, it will be better if you determine your productive hours. If you will be able to give the best performance in the early morning then start at that time. While some may find working late in the evening is more appropriate for them. Everyone’s time may vary as per their situation. But, make sure that you are able to coordinate with your teammates while working on a group project or it would be chaotic for the end result.

The best part of working from home is it’s flexibility unless your work timing is affecting team coordination and productivity.

4. Break and family timings are also essential

While working from home, sometimes people forget that they have to stop and look into other matters too. Don’t be that guy! Nobody can give quality performance if they are too much indulge in a work like a robot. If you find an office has tea breaks, lunch break, etc from time to time that means there is some purpose of it. But, people often think of completing an entire task without taking any break so that they can enjoy a long break after that. This type of thinking and working style will only lead to devastating results.

It is our duty to give our body and mind proper relaxation from time to time to get it energized. This will help you to perform with double energy and bring out the result faster. And, in this Pandemic situation caused by the COVID-19, you should give your family good support physically as well as mentally both.

5. Remain in touch with your teammates and management

After all, it is for your office you are getting the job done. So, if you do not remain in touch with them and don’t know what decisions are currently made by the team and the management, you will not be able to perform appropriately no matter how hard you do. Make sure you are in a good connection with them by various means of telephone and the internet.

If you get stuck at some point in your task, your team members or heads will help you to solve it. Your management will give you valuable information about the current office rules and other factors even if they are changing. Don’t get outdated by getting disconnected from them. This is especially important in this Pandemic situation like COVID-19.
