Building Inroads in Non-traditional Markets

NASSCOM’s focus on non-traditional markets, particularly in the last 3 – 4 years is unmistakable. Opportunities in Japan have always beckoned and vice-versa.

 

We took a delegation to Japan for a 3-city roadshow from June 11th to June 14th 2018. This visit was organised with the help of JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation). Also, the support from Embassy of India was marked by the participation of senior executives.

 

The seminars at Fukuoka, Hiroshima and Yokohama were attended by 95+ Japanese companies. The company visits in particular were most rewarding. The Indian delegation visited Mazda, Nishitetsu Information Systems, Dream-Arts, and FujiSoft, with these companies expressing their willingness to collaborate with Indian companies for co-creating and co-developing solutions. Equally, we have started receiving requests from Japanese companies as well, for connecting to Indian companies and take engagement to the next level.

 

Further to the visit, as per announcement made by Japanese Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry in April, the Japan-India Start-up hub has started working with a senior level person from METI who has been tasked with the responsibility. This hub will act as a collaborative platform for connects between start-ups and companies from India with Japanese companies, and reciprocally support Japanese start-ups with connects with Indian start-ups and Indian companies.
