India which is the most preferred sourcing destination for IT-BPO services also remains one of the favourite destination for the retail market. In the retail vertical, global customers are increasingly off shoring complex application development and integration, packaged implementation, infrastructure management and support as well as IT consulting roles primarily owing to a large presence of experienced  retail domain consultants operating from global delivery centres across key markets in the US, Europe,  Australia, the Middle East and Asia.


Retail remains one of the fastest growing verticals for Indian IT-BPO industry with significant  focus on supply chain and inventory optimisation engagements. Leading service providers have developed niche service offerings across the retail value chain by focusing on building core competencies in key areas of the business including supply chain optimisation, merchandising, store management and optimisation strategies, multi-channel integration and CRM. Additionally, Indian IT-BPO firms have already integrated their retail Centres of Excellence (CoE) within their delivery network which  comprise functional and technical subject matter specialists who engage in building and sharing best practices, retail solutions and frameworks on  global transformational engagements with retailers.


Retail organisations globally, are observing huge shifts in terms of consumer consumption patterns and the speed in which they need to execute and serve this ever increasing global consumer base. With rising competition, globalisation, ever shortening product lifecycles and rising cost pressures,

global retailers are increasingly expecting more for less from global technology service providers. Key focus will continue to remain in transforming retail operations by leveraging technology solutions as an enabler to enhance profits across retail operational bases globally.
