Our analysis of the 149 IT-BPM organisations that participated in the ‘Best IT-BPM companies to work for in India - 2015’ indicates that 70 per cent of the employees’ hold a positive perception regarding various aspects of their workplace.
In all, 41,343 employees responded to the survey. From our analysis, we have found that a friendly and welcoming work environment, non-discrimination, availability of resources and a safe working environment are the key strengths of India’s IT-BPM sector. On the other hand, low perception on fairness in performance evaluations, inadequate equity in pay and profit sharing, need for unique benefits, perception on management walking the talk and inadequate opportunities for involvement in decisions and the need for more demonstrated caring were found to be some of the key areas of improvement for IT-BPM organisations in India.
Creating a Great Workplace has significant benefits like enhanced performance on market indices as well as high customer satisfaction levels. This year, of the 149 organisations that participated, 50 are being recognised as the best IT-BPM firms to work for in India. Some areas that differentiate the best workplaces in the industry from the rest are equity in pay and profit sharing, impartiality in performance evaluations, managers walking the talk and delivering on their promises, a fun and welcoming work environment and involvement in decisions that affect employees’ work. Our analysis indicates that fair evaluation of performance, opportunities for career growth, equal treatment of individuals regardless of their position, managers walking the talk, making the workplace fun and hiring appropriate talent have a significant impact on whether employees consider their organisation a great workplace.
