It’s always been a dream to simplify the healthcare industry. With the dawn of IoT becoming mainstream by 2020, there’s an edge in the advancement on improving people’s health worldwide, a robust focus on consumer engagement and proposals for the IoT based healthcare.

 

Designing a cloud-based platform that is manageable and secure is more than a mission. Technologies in hospitals need to be continuously optimized to augment patient care as it’s the most essential part of health care.  Hospitals in South Jersey access data like billing, prescriptions, regulatory information through IoT. The technology also connects to external data and remotely monitors medications, reviews information and intends when required in the respective laboratories and pharmacies. Automated medical dispensers have reduced the need of physical prescriptions by 33% and the time taken to deliver from 2 hours to 18 minutes

Healthcare organizations are structuring the adoption of connected health technologies, claims IDC- a health insight company designing IoT Healthcare. IDC also recommends certain aspects to “think” before IoT takes over the discipline;

 

  1. Leveraging the sense of passive sensor technologies: sensors have become increasingly small, with minimal intrusiveness which makes it possible to implant in daily products as clothing and wearables-hence making it easier to use.
  2. Exploiting big data: using analytics to derive awareness from the collected data and presented at the point of decision making so that the right decision is taken by the consumer based on the best available “insights”.
  3. Transform processes: business and clinical processes in IoT projects offer exceptional prospects to analyze design on how the consumer products and service can be improved.
  4. Improvise behavior: changing behavior to improve the customer experience and aligning the financial incentives. Drafting information from data collected by IoT devices to change behavior and also to educate consumers about the advantages of IoT and their connected health devices.

 

IoT would seamlessly connect dozens of units within the hospitals or outside (ambulance, etc) when needed to securely transmit data and access patient records.                                               

 

Certain organizations have steered numerous connected healthcare projects that enables the consumers and patients to connect in a way that impart their behavior, encouraging them to take right decisions and lower their healthcare costs.

 

IoT will be a disruptive force in the healthcare industry as it is in the other life saving disciplines. IoT builds better technology for tomorrow and through better technologies come better healthcare.
