Future of human intelligence: where machines can replace men

Discussion created by Om Routray on Oct 3, 2016

NASSCOM is soon coming up with a study conducted in association with The Boston Consulting Group. The report “AI, Beyond the Myth and the Hype” is a 3 month study to understand the impact of AI across industries, particularly the Indian IT industry, and the expectations going forward.

The study focuses on findings in the following areas:

  • EMERGING TRENDS THAT REINFORCE FUTURE IS AI
  • IMPLICATIONS FOR IT/ BPM SERVICES
  • SUCCESS MANTRAS TO CRACK THE AI CODE

While the report will cover every aspect of artificial intelligence in application and how it will affect each business segment, it also has an impact on hiring practices. For example, here are a few verticals that will re-engineered to the core:

So, if you are working in any of the above areas, you need to watch out for the report. McKinsey recently published a research finding about technical potential for automation and how it varies dramatically across sectors and activities.

In fact, as our research has begun to show, the story is more nuanced. While automation will eliminate very few occupations entirely in the next decade, it will affect portions of almost all jobs to a greater or lesser degree, depending on the type of work they entail. Automation, now going beyond routine manufacturing activities, has the potential, as least with regard to its technical feasibility, to transform sectors such as healthcare and finance, which involve a substantial share of knowledge work.
