COVID19 has put the brakes on life as we know it. Specifically, the manufacturing sector has come to a grinding halt as a result, causing a wave of concern among shareholders & industry leaders. Manufacturing in India is the lifeline; valued at more than $400bn, could possibly get a fillip from a raft of new technologies to ensure processes can continue without disruption and minimal physical human interaction.

Keyur Bhalavat, founder CEO of Ahmedabad-based Plutomen Technologies along with Hiren Kanani, Director for Tech & Research & Ravi Patel, Director of Design, have come up with a range of solutions that use Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality to enable remote assistance, P2P collaboration and easy virtual communication.

Plutomen Technologies Pvt Ltd is recognized start-up by DIPP in the field of Emerging Technology (Registered in Nov, 2016). The company has extensive experience working in the field of Augmented, Virtual & Mixed Reality (now collectively known as eXtended Reality – XR). Their clients are across sectors like Real Estate, E-Commerce, Manufacturing & allied industries, Education, Exhibitions and tourism. They have executed projects for Adani, Arvind, Bajaj Allianz, Milacron, L&T, PwC, Transformers & Rectifiers, Sobha Group & Rohan Group.

They have been awarded the ‘Most Innovative Start up in 2019’ by DCB Bank during DCB Bank Innovation Carnival, ‘Rising Star in field of AR/VR’ at the Vibrant Startup & Technology Summit, 2019 and ‘Leading AR-VR Company in 2018-19’ by YourStory Media.

Here are some of their XR solutions that could greatly help manufacturing operations

Plutomen ARMS:

An Augmented Reality based Platform for peer-to-peer collaboration & remote assistance. It will alter the way Service Field Engineers & technicians work on MRO (Maintenance, repair and operations) practices and on the job Training.

ARMS platform allows you to intervene remotely, in real-time, carry out ordinary maintenance procedures or resolve technical failures. Collaboration among workers is a key driver for including AR technology into enterprise systems and processes. The display of real-time 3D annotations on environments and objects help teams solve problems efficiently and with no extra relocation costs.

The platform can be used from preventive maintenance, inspection, Problem identification & Troubleshooting, On-the Job training, & quick fixes.

Plutomen ARMS is a combination of VoIP, Computer Vision and Augmented Reality. We have used AR Core for Android and AR Kit for iOS. This makes the platform more stable & adaptable. Going forward AI and IoT features will also be added to the platform. The solution is available currently in Mobiles & Tablets. We will be extending this platform to Web and Smart AR Glasses.
