With businesses going digital-only, apps need to be secure, seamless, insightful yet cost-effective

The latest mantra in the world of enterprise IT is “anything that can be delivered digitally must be delivered digitally”. The global health crisis of 2020 further fuelled this belief with the majority of the global workforce operating away from their offices. Today, customers are digitally-aware and leverage digital technologies to interact with their preferred services, often with zero human interaction.

The need to be sustainable, resilient and future-proof

India has been the frontrunner in the adoption of digital technologies. From movie tickets to airline boarding passes to court documents, almost every sphere of business and public service is completely paperless, and this has been made possible with the right technology interventions. Besides opening up newer avenues for brands and start-ups to innovate in creating apps, a lot of the so-called traditional enterprises have also made the shift to a service-based app-driven business model. The key now is to move to the next phase of disruption, one that is sustainable, resilient and future-proof. It is now time to reimagine applications

The hybrid work challenge

The seismic shift to mobile work has created new challenges for businesses. App-driven commerce comes with increased system dependencies, a lack of visibility into blind spots in the IT network and a steep increase in the number of anomalies. In an application-first virtual world, it is essential to reduce these redundancies to ensure a smooth user experience. After all, the modern-day customer is spoilt for choice, and user experience is the only thing that will differentiate your business from the competition. From banking to eCommerce, new-age apps come with increased complexity in the backend. Business-critical factors like data security, agility and transparency are non-negotiable, and with the network suddenly becoming more complex, applications of tomorrow need to be interactive yet devoid of interdependencies while providing optimized usage and experience.

Having eyes all over your network

In order to accelerate and reimagine applications, the use of AI and ML is paramount. Step one of course is to have unparalleled control over your network, but a vital step two is to have the ability to unlock insights that can further drive business and profits. In the meantime, the network itself has become more complex thanks to distributed IT. With the workforce and workplace operating in a distributed manner, the cloud architecture has become more hybrid. Interoperability of public, private and hybrid clouds needs to have clockwork precision while being secure, seamless and cost-effective. In short, the modern-day app needs to be simple in the front and backend complexity needs to be managed and monitored with ease

All-round transformation of apps

With applications moving from on-premise to cloud, IT teams are facing increased pressure to optimize their resources and manage governance policies. End-to-end visibility on policy dependencies and application usage will make the transition to the cloud, a smooth and fast process. Together with the use of AI and ML, businesses can successfully optimize resources and detect anomalies and root causes in real-time, besides providing remedial measures. Finally, application workload performance can be optimized and smoothened to ensure a superior user experience. The new-age brand is totally driven by apps, and it is now time to reimagine apps in a hybrid cloud world to ensure that customer experience, security, data management and insights come together to drive business growth.
