2. Mention the geographic area where your solution is implemented and give us details of the intervention.

Shekru is focused for the state of Maharashtra.   Shekru hence is completely accessed in Marathi and English languages. We have listed 3000+ events, from workshops to seminars to fairs and training programs organized by hundreds of stakeholders so far, more than 500+ schemes that range from subsidies to insurance to tours and 850+ voices all in Marathi from diverse set of institutions on varying topics relevant to agriculture.

3. What was the objective of the project and how much of it was achieved?

The objective of the project is to reach all farmers and agriculture related personnel in Maharashtra with our awareness and access platform.  Without any marketing and on a frugal budget, we have hit about 39000 downloads which is probably less than 1% of our target audience.

As internet penetration accelerates and smartphones reach more including women, we see a lot of opportunities ahead to contextualize and personalize what we offer right now, empowering our farmers with knowledge towards building climate resiliency and lastly enabling women farmers.

4. Give details of the cost of your solution and scope of scalability

The mobile app is free.  There are approximately 1 plus crore farmers in Maharashtra and of those numbers there is about 20% or less smartphone penetration for this community and with women farmers less than 5%.  However, the smartphone adoption is increasing quite robustly across rural towns and villages. Our mobile application is built on cloud, can scale to any number of users.

5. Are you looking for partners? Mention details of partnership.

Yes, very much for partners.  Central Government, State Government of Maharashtra, Semi-Government Agencies and Institutions, Banks, Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s, NRC’s, Agriculture related private companies, Progressive Farmers, Farmer Groups, Trade Associations and Scientists etc.   We are looking all our partners to use our platform to list their events (trainings, workshops, seminars, tours etc.) they organize, if they have schemes (loans, insurance, subsidies, grants, awards etc.) they have for farmers, or would like to do a Mann/Kaam Ki Baat to engage with the farmer community on a regular basis, sharing knowledge, information and domain expertise.
