The 5th Lifesciences & Healthcare Innovation Forum held on April 30th in New Delhi’s Shangri-La Eros Hotel was a resounding success. This was the first time the event was held in the capital, and witnessed its highest ever turnout of 170 attendees. With Digital Propulsion of Universal Healthcare as its central theme, there was enthused participation from various stakeholders including hospitals, healthcare enterprises, technology entities, startups and most notably, a strong representation from policy makers and government.

The inaugural session witnessed keynotes by Ms Debjani Ghosh, President, NASSCOM; Mr J Satyanarayana, Former secretary and Chair of Digital Healthcare Stack for Min of Health ; Dr. Indu Bhushan, CEO, Ayushman Bharat; Mr Dileep Mangsuli, CTO, Wipro GE Healthcare; Mr Ajay Sawhney, Secretary, MeitY and Mr Pramod Bhasin, Founder, Genpact – who addressed the gamut of issues within India’s healthcare industry today ranging from the responsible and strategic use of data, how technology has propelled the availability of secondary and tertiary care in India, to what the future of India’s healthcare industry could be if technology was harnessed across the board for a variety of benefits such as effective electronic health record management and point of care health diagnostics among others.

A true testament to the conducive influence that NASSCOM wields over industry, the event witnessed participation of 15 policy makers, 30 doctors, 35 speakers, 85+ representatives from industry and startups. With innovation in healthcare as the primary focus, the event witnessed varying levels of thought leadership and exchange of ideas on topics such as digital intervention in patient life cycle management, adoption of best practices in electronic health records and the rising demand for healthcare at home.

LHIF managed to bring together 25 industry stalwarts for an invite-only industry roundtable, with the aim of assimilating technology, policy, industry and academia to establish a one-of-a-kind Healthcare Advisory Council in India. The roundtable was very well anchored by Pramod Bhasin  and attended by the leaders from India’s leading hospitals, healthcare and pharma companies, healthcare associations, government representatives and NASSCOM leadership.

And to bring the event a full circle were startup showcases, ranging from wellness apps to point-of-care monitoring devices and AI-powered medical analytics companies, who presented their solutions to the delegates and capitalized on the opportunity to interact with some of India’s biggest decision makers in healthcare.

The team also signed a MOU with GE Healthcare to promote the growth of health tech startup ecosystem in India.

Wipro GE Healthcare and NASSCOM Center of Excellence sign an MoU at the 5th Lifesciences & Healthcare Innovation Forum.

This is a culmination of effort of last one year to build the healthcare vertical in NASSCOM with many workshops, one2one sessions with experts, meetings with govt and visits to hospitals and public health institutions. Thanks to the CoE team of Arjun, Vijetha, Sindhuja, Ritwik and Chaitanya and healthcare lead Raghuram Janapareddy for relentless effort in creating this ecosystem and also building excellent thought leadership for NASSCOM and the industry in the segment.

The CoE team is engaged with multiple partners in the co-creation projects and other initiatives are on the anvil including NASSCOM EC initiative on health. Thanks to Sangeeta, Kavita, Leenika, Chetan and regional teams for the ongoing support for this effort.
