DRIVEwithIoT: The Advent of Connected, Autonomous and Electric Vehicles

The Future of Automotive is a very exciting space to be in and  DRIVEwithIoT is a series of unique programs conceptualized by the NASSCOM Center of Excellence – IoT bringing together the leading experts, innovators and corporates in the automotive space to drive the future of the Auto Industry by enabling a collaborative eco-system.

The second edition of #DRIVEwithIoT organized by the NASSCOM Center of Excellence – IoT in partnership with the Society of Automotive Engineers, India (SAE India, Bengaluru Section) was a rousing success and drew the attention of audiences from across all spheres of the world of automotive.

Conducted at the Leela Palace, Bangalore on 8th June, 2017, the session threw focus on ‘The Advent of Connected, Autonomous and Electric Vehicles’. The program was a potpourri of unique deep-dive sessions, experiential demos and speaker sessions by the drivers of innovation which provided the audiences a peek into the Future of Automotive.

Mahindra Electric and KPIT were the key sponsors of the program.

Mr. Kartik Gopal, the Strategy and Business Planning Head at Mahindra Electric set the tone for the program by delivering the keynote on ‘The Evolution and Future of the Automotive Industry’. He touched upon topics ranging across Megatrends & Govt. push towards a new mobility paradigm, evolution & the current automotive industry paradigm, framework to understand the new evolving trends and Mahindra Electric’s Experiments.

The insightful narration by Mr. Kartik Gopal set the stage for an in-depth Panel Discussion on ‘Next Generation Vehicles – DRIVING into the Future’. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Arun Kumar Sampath – Chair, Automotive Board and Vice-Chair, Finance Board of SAEINDIA. The esteemed panel for the discussion included:

  • Prabhavathy A.S – Intel India, Autonomous Driving Vertical Lead
  • Andreas Lindinger – Senior Expert in Secure System & Cryptography, Continental
  • Saurabh Rohilla – Deputy Director, SIAM
  • Vadiraj Krishnamurthy – Vice President at Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Limited
  • Manaswini Rath – AVP and Head of ADAS and Autonomous Vehicles Practice, KPIT

The panel discussion addressed various critical topics like key upcoming innovations that have the potential to impact the automotive industry, trends in Internet of Automotive, security, emerging applications and government policies.

The panel discussion was followed by a special presentation by Dr. Roshy John, during which the audiences learnt about his journey and the challenges he overcame in the process of converting a Nano into India’s first driverless car.

The unique Innovator presentations by Kumar Ranjan – Mean Metal Motors, Avneesh Agrawal – Netradyne and Ruchit Surati – Locanix reiterated the vitality and importance of innovation in the transformation journey of the automotive industry.

The program culminated with an intriguing live autonomous car demo by Tech Mahindra which captured the imagination of the audiences.
