Organizations across the globe are going through a change of extraordinary magnitude. Various multinational organizations have already set up their GCCs and some of them are looking at India as a GCC destination. India plays a huge role and has been a preferred GCC destination for many decades and will continue to be in the future as well. Owing to India’s unique ecosystem such as academia, start-ups, service providers, industry bodies, and the Government; abundance of talent; Tier-I & Tier-II city infrastructure; and continuous government support; India lies ahead as a preferred GCC destination. Additionally, COVID-19 is said to have further enhanced India’s attractiveness as a GCC destination.

Today, India plays host to a flourishing GCC community with estimated GCCs of 1430+ (FY21) employing over 1.38 million people (estimated for FY21) with a revenue potential from India estimated to reach $35.9 Bn by 2021. Over the last 5 years, this industry has witnessed tremendous growth in employee base and revenues, while significantly supporting their global organizations' digital transformation journey. GCCs are also contributing towards creating a high-quality workforce of the future through a structured training approach and continuous upskilling on new technologies such as automation, AI, ML, AR/VR, and building a digitized Organization. GCCs are fast expanding and creating new Tech Centers of Excellence (Tech CoEs), focusing on innovation, technology enablement, and enriched service portfolio.

Being one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, India continues to attract MNCs to tap into its rich and diverse ecosystem. Over 140 MNCs have set up their GCC centers in India between 2019 and 2021 and out of this, more than half of the GCCs are headquartered in the Americas. Availability of digital talent, maturity of the start-ups, and peer GCC ecosystem are among the major drivers that make India a top choice. Significant increase in maturity of the entire GCC ecosystem has been seen with some even breaking into the topmost maturity phase, the Transformation Hub (after Outpost, Satellite, and Portfolio Hub maturity phase). GCCs are prioritizing the need to build niche skill capabilities among their workforce, in the field of AI/ML, Big Data Analytics, and Cloud Engineering, and building tech CoEs.
