We are pleased to share, based on NASSCOM recommendations, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has further relaxed its March 13, 2020 notification, which mandated OSPs to ensure ‘Static IP connectivity’ for the purpose of work from home (WFH).

Subsequent to March 13, 2020, notification, several OSPs shared their concerns with NASSCOM in meeting the Static IP requirement. Subsequently, NASSCOM made a representation highlighting the industry concerns and the need to relax the above requirement given the current crisis.

As per the revised notification (No.18.5/2015-CS-I) dated April 15, 2020, the department has made it optional for OSPs to use Static IP / Dynamic IP pool for the purpose of interconnection between home agent position and OSP center with pre-defined locations.  The department has also issued a revised format for sharing details of the extended agent position with the TERM officials. The other conditions remain unchanged.

The relaxed guidelines are now valid upto 31.07.2020.  A copy of the latest notification can be accessed from here.
