The impact of project management and delivery has been immense on the technology industry. This has been further accentuated in a hybrid/ remote work environment, which presents implementation challenges, that require enhanced accountability and collaboration.

Many projects fail due to inflexible management systems and stiff structures. Most methodologies plan for success at the end of a project. Modern project management methodologies put people, and communication at the centre with good leadership, flexible methods, and an adaptable approach.

As projects become more complex, organizations need an approach that works for them. Each organization, or rather each project team should decide how to use methodologies to suit their specific needs. Modern teams in the technology industry often use a combination of two, or even all three frameworks together -hybrid methodology.

Hybrid project management is basically a combination of different approaches from the traditional project management environment and the modern, agile world. While implementing the hybrid model, one gets to bring all projects, tasks, people, and communications at one place helping them make the right business choices. For example, on mixing the traditional approaches with the Agile methodology, team members with different working styles and views can work together in their own way making way for increased stability, engagement, and efficiency.

There are many factors that may be tied to an increased need for hybrid project management. Three of the most important are:

  • Increased project complexity

Throughout the Technology industry, projects are increasing in complexity, demanding improved management principles to see them effectively through to completion.

  • Increased market competition

As new technologies arise and new players enter the market, if they wish to remain competitive, businesses around the globe are discovering that they need to do more to anticipate and respond proactively to emergent issues.

  • Evolving customer expectations

Increased focus on customer-centricity has created increased customer expectations, particularly related to speed, usability, and personalization. Businesses now need to be able to respond more quickly than ever to address their clients’ changing needs.

Increasing number of organizations in Tech sector are adopting this approach with success. Hence, agile methods will also continue to gain importance in the future.
