On December 14, 2022, the National Health Authority (NHA) released a Consultation Paper on operationalising the Unified Health interface (UHI) in India that outlines the market rules that will govern the UHI Network. UHI is envisioned as a foundational layer of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission (ABDM) and seeks to enable interoperability in health services in India through open protocols.

The Consultation Paper focuses on the guidelines that will govern the way search & discovery takes place in a fair and transparent manner. It also includes the proposed payment & settlement processes, rules around cancellation & rescheduling, grievance redressal mechanism, and more. Each section has specific open questions where feedback from stakeholders is sought.

The objective of the Consultation Paper is to seek feedback on how different elements of UHI should function to allow for early course correction, which will in turn engender trust in the network and enhance market adoption. The NHA aims to use the feedback received through this consultation to refine the functionalities of UHI to limit any operational issues going forward.

In this regard, we request you to provide your inputs on the attached Consultation Paper. As the Consultation Paper is open for consultation till January 13, 2023, we request you to send us your feedback latest by January 5, 2023 to: sudipto@nasscom.in and garima@nasscom.in.
