The Mirai IoT Botnet has been causing havoc. https://krebsonsecurity.com/2016/10/source-code-for-iot-botnet-mirai-released. It knocked of Liberia’s internet in early November. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/nov/03/cyberattack-internet-liberia-ddos-hack-botnet. With the number of IOT devices predicted to overtake the human population in 2017 it is time to start taking a serious look at the security issues related to this. We need to make sure our wifi router at home has not been recruited into some botnet army and carrying out nefarious activities on behalf of an unknown master without our knowledge !!
