Buy-in from key stakeholders is necessary for cloud adoption across engineering companies. However, much can be done for effective and faster cloud adoption across these engineering functions. Some of the recommendations for key stakeholders include –

  1. Recommendations for Enterprises
  • Enterprises should ensure that the move to cloud should not be done just to reduce costs nut rather to transform the overall workflows.
  • They must identify the right cloud operating model and simultaneously define cloud control and governance strategies.
  • Enterprises must continue to co-innovate with the ecosystem players.
  • They must engage with service providers for faster time to market.
  • They should manage change and align all stakeholders.
  1. Recommendations for ISVs
  • ISVs should build customizable SaaS solutions.
  • They must improve interoperability and integration of SaaS applications.
  • ISVs can offer attractive options such as pay-per-use pricing models.
  • They should continue to focus on product innovation through co-innovation with ecosystem players.
  • ISVs should continue to partner with service providers for bundled services and solutions portfolios.
  1. Recommendations for Service providers
  • Service providers are expected to build an engineering and manufacturing focused consulting portfolio to service the clients better.
  • They should improve their security and compliance portfolio as well.
  • They must engage with other ecosystem players.
  • Service Providers should develop industry specific IPs and assets.
  • They should build a cloud and domain focused talent pool.
  1. Recommendations for Cloud platform providers
  • Cloud platform providers should roll out hybrid cloud models.
  • They should improve the cloud security landscape.
  • Cloud platform providers must improve the existing infrastructure and solve latency challenges.
  • They must co-innovate with the ISVs to build low code/no code engineering and manufacturing apps.
  • They must strengthen the cloud marketplace for the development of solution accelerators.

While engineering companies are adopting cloud for their engineering activities, more can always be done.
