DTC meeting was held in NASSCOM 10000 Startups Warehouse in Gurgaon with the participation from Deeptech mentors – Subinder Khurana (also founder of the club), Anupam Saronwala (co-lead), Rajnish Kapur, Vinod Sood, Vinish Kathuria, NASSCOM Leadership included- R Chandrashekhar ( also a subject-matter expert mentor of DTC and Former-President, NASSCOM, Member of Chairmen’s Council), Arun Seth (Mentor at DTC and Chairman –NASSCOM Foundation), Sangeeta Gupta (SVP, NASSCOM), Industry Champions, representative from the government ( Mr Gulati, MD Hartron), Enterprises, Investors and the invited start-ups from NASSCOM DeepTech club, Emerge 50 and NASSCOM 10000 Startups program.

Sangeeta apprised the group with the aim of forming the NASSCOM DeepTech Club (DTC), the industry champions associated with it and the journey so far with the graduation of 1st batch and the 2nd one in the process. The DeepTech mentors shared their reasons on what made them get associated with this initiative and the fuel required to accelerate it & take it to the next level.

Arun cajoled the audience with his idea to begin his start-up now! The notion behind was the excitement a pioneering project brings on the table in creating a spectacular product.

R Chandrashekhar added that for the Indian start-up ecosystem to grow globally, it requires mentorship as well as a multidimensional approach in finding solutions to their challenges.

The meeting was predominantly held for bringing fresh ideas and collaborations for attaining scalability and further sharpen on quality. The most significant priority came out to be the amalgamation of academia with the club as the academic representation will bring innovation and co-create futurist products. Mr. Gulati added that Haryana government has also taken initiatives where they have collaborated with selected universities from where they invite students for internship in their shortlisted start-ups and the time spent there gets converted into grades in their academic session, this idea was unanimously welcomed and discussed to replicate in the DeepTech club.

Various models of academia leverage were mentioned and noted like of NEN (Wadhwa ni Foundation, Manav Rachna University, Bennett University among others.

DTC mentees shared their wonderful experiences & the tremendous time they had while learning & connecting with the ecosystem. Batch1 mentees acknowledged the support they had received from the club. Feedback on having deep subject matter experts was addressed by Anupam who reiterated the introduction of horizontal mentors in Batch 2. The entrepreneurs were encouraged to go after their mentors for a rigorous & continuous interaction rather than hesitating and getting influenced by their industry leader position (that all Mentors, of course, are!) and thus restricting themselves for fewer and very limited communication. This discussion came into existence when one of the entrepreneurs from Cohort 1 highlighted that he wasn’t meeting his mentor very often and limiting his interaction thinking the mentor is a busy industry leader and should not be bothered too much. Therefore, all leaders and mentors encouraged frequent conversations with their respective mentees.

This was followed by 1:1 curated meetings along investors and enterprises with the invited start-ups. 60+ meetings happened over the next 3 hours. All stakeholders appreciated the efforts of NASSCOM. Attached are the pics of Enterprise & Investors Connect & Cherish the moment.
