Unicorns that were never Soonicorns

We have been talking a lot about unicorns in the last few years. The rate at which unicorns have come up in recent time is the talk of the town. But the most surprising element here is not the rise of unicorns but the companies which are turning unicorns.

Exactly, the mindboggling question is that there are many start-ups that turned unicorn but they were never on the list of soonicorns. It may sound a bit surprising but yes, that’s the truth. We will not go long back into the time but will discuss some of the recent cases. Let’s start with Infra.market.

Infra.Market is a B2B online procurement platform that helps construction companies save 5%-7% of their input costs. They serve big names such as Tata Projects, Crystal Group, RDC Concrete,  Ambuja Cement, and ACC Concrete. Infra.Market has developed a highly-diversified offering, allowing us to provide a wide variety of client services and solutions across the construction life cycle.

Innovacer helps healthcare organizations accelerate innovation by making powerful decisions based on key insights and data-driven predictions. Its flagship product, Healthcare Data Platform, has been used by more than 10,000 healthcare providers, affecting the lives of over 10 Mn patients in the US.

Tekion a cloud-based automotive retail startup founded by a former Tesla Inc. executive, its flagship platform, Automotive Retail Cloud, is built using the most modern technology stack available.

Above start-ups have proved their worth silently and turned to billion-dollar valuations within few years. Like this, there were many start-ups like High Radius, Zenoti, etc. which were not on the soonicorn list but silently paved their way towards this coveted club.

But how can these start-ups were missed by so many media lists of soonicorns. I think there might not be a single answer to this but the biggest credit should be given to the “Investors”. It’s these investors only that kept on picking and choosing such start-ups and supporting them to build a strong base and grow exponentially.

For more such success stories we should not overlook such start-ups and make sure they are very well covered everywhere.
