5G is expected to power up to 2% of India’s GDP, amounting to ~$180 bn in 2030, facilitated by increasing market penetration, strengthening economy and sectoral reforms.

With over 500 million 5G users in India by 2030, 5G can be truly transformational for the economy. With public and private 5G networks enabling use cases across multiple sectors such as mobility, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, energy and utilities, 5G can have a huge impact on India’s economy.

Key Drivers for Aggressive Growth

Policies like the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) which plan to connect all the 2.5 lakh gram panchayats in the country will help enhance India’s potential to 5G adoption by increasing accessibility and affordability. Indian economy will rely heavily on the investments to be made by telecom service providers that will begin offering 5G services in key cities within this year and scale them up to cover the entire country in the coming years.
