‘High-technology’ has become associated with rising pay and increased investments, Harnessing the power of Artificial intelligence to help the most desperate in our society is a fantastic way to use it.

Artificial Intelligence has changed the way society interacts with technology. In today’s world with new innovations and technologies especially with the emergence of AI has led to making our lives easier than before. These AI devices, with proper application can also be used to eradicate the world’s poverty. It has provided large number of opportunities for problem-solving in the last few decades, and the relationship between AI and poverty reduction may be one worth fostering.

  • Identification of the main causes of poverty:

Recognizing the sources of poverty is the main important thing when deciding ways to solve the issues through technology. One of the advantages of AI is that it can be automatically extract important variables that used to analyze and find sustainable solutions. Through the huge repository of historic data about natural disasters, employment data, financial changes, law and policy changes, increasing costs of food, fighting, and strife etc. Artificial intelligence can easily determine the areas that need immediate assistance.

Addressing poverty in particular areas by improving farming and forestry, introducing specific area for employment opportunities in the locals, and having people develop innovative skills to sustain neighborhoods etc. can be done through AI. For impoverished and war-torn countries where natural disasters have created havoc, AI may even assist with the delivery of relief whenever needed.

  • AI in Agriculture:

Artificial Intelligence is used to combat poverty is by developing agriculture. The areas where poverty is rife, people make their living through farming, animal husbandry etc. AI experts launched their project that utilize robots and artificial intelligence to boost the production of staple food crops in developing countries.

By utilizing Robotics, Drone Technology, Machine Learning, and Al, scientists are researching the crop and exploring the best way to maximize the production of such crops. It is used for cooking, drinking, and biofuels, and the ability to expand this will significantly help poor stricken areas that depend on agriculture as their key source of revenue. Machine learning does this by feeding the data collected over the cultivation season into an AI model that might help farmers anticipate the best ways to develop their product.

  • AI in Education:

Poverty and lack of education are closely connected with each other, and AI can aim to impact rates of education in disadvantaged regions. In the upcoming future, we might see smart chatbots filling in as teachers for students lacking exposure to other means of schooling. A computer or internet interface is available, an AI-teacher could direct pupils via a syllabus that utilizes real-time analytics and machine learning. The use of Artificial Intelligence in education removes the obstacle to education and the discrimination that so many around the world experience through schooling.

Artificial Intelligence will do more to encourage standards of schooling is by personalized learning. Everybody learns in various forms, some learn by listening, some learn by visual examples, while some learn from performing hands-on activities. Artificial Intelligence may help define learning needs for students and automate the cycle. All pupils with the same opportunity and standard of education system, those with disadvantaged families would be encouraged to develop the expertise required to succeed and to level the playing field more particularly.

  • Social Projects:

One of the initiatives in this is the ‘Emergency Food Best Practice,’ where a non-profit institution which is serve those most in need in the region. To see this, IBM aims to build and distribute with other related non-profits, a platform focused on the evidence from the non-profit delivery model. Saint John’s Bread & Life aims to support over 2000 meals a day and this project will go a long way in benefiting those most in need.

IBM utilizes technology which have a major effect on poverty is through a project. This IBM project utilizes Artificial Intelligence to help adult learners with poor literacy abilities, understand texts with more trust by interpreting texts and expressing the specific context by graphics or plain-spoken words. This lets consumers resolve obstacles. Many NGOs have taken the help of data analytics and Artificial Intelligence to identify households where women and children are more likely to be abused so that they can take necessary action to prevent harmful situations.

How can AI help towards Poverty Relief

AI is a tool that can be applied in many areas of life. The use of technology and Artificial Intelligence is crucial in predicting natural disasters and improving aid responses after the disaster. These abilities and their effects can lead AI to have the potential to play a major role in decreasing the number of people who are forced into poverty due to natural disasters by preventing loss of life and property to a large extent.

Conclusion

Science and technology are becoming more reliable and accessible throughout the world, countries should think about researching upon AI for the prevention of poverty by using the following models as mentioned above. The potential to diminish poverty with these new technologies is very high. It might take humanity decades before Artificial Intelligence is actively fighting poverty, but when it does, it will most likely help eradicate it. If proper processes are implemented and we achieve success in this area, the world can become a better place to live in. AI can be instrumental in the future of mankind’s healthy well-being and quite possibly survival on the earth.
