With tech intensity becoming a strong driver to build a culture of innovation, ITeS companies are transforming themselves as disruption demands the capacity to turn challenges into opportunities. The big shift that is taking place in the digital transformation in the ITeS sector is the growing relevance of cloud in their digital revenues as they invest in building cloud-specific solutions for clients. As per IDC, overall Indian public cloud services market is expected to reach $9.5 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 21.5% for 2020-25.

With technology constantly evolving, there are some standout trends that will have implications for the sector in its capacity for transformation in the foreseeable future.

Tech Trends that will drive new opportunities for innovation

Cloud will shower sustainability benefits: Over the years, climate-related events have underlined the need for harnessing technology to make communities and businesses more sustainable. Organizations are aiming to be carbon-negative, waste-negative, and water-positive.[1] Transitioning to the Cloud can reduce carbon emissions associated with on-premises data center operations.Solutions such as Cloud for Sustainability can provide real-time visibility into emission metrics and help organizations set sustainability goals and take measurable action to reduce emissions. According to Accenture, 94% of top CEOs cite sustainability as important or very important for the future success of their businesses.

  • Cybersecurity will need to be enhanced with identity, compliance and authentication: In terms of Cybersecurity, every organization will need comprehensive tools across identity, security, compliance, privacy, as well as management. In addition to that, they need a cross-platform multi-cloud zero-trust architecture. Some key trends include Digital empathy in thinking about the ways in which people behave and engage with technology. The Zero Trust journey is becoming increasingly important. Zero Trust is an "assume breach" security posture with strong identity authentication everywhere. As we look past the pandemic to a time when workforces and budgets rebound, Zero Trust will become the biggest area of investment for cybersecurity
     
  • Confidential Computing will emerge as vital tool in cybersecurity: Even as the pandemic accelerated the migration of data and applications to the Cloud, security got left behind. Decoupling data security from infrastructure could be the most vital line of defense in this context. Confidential Computing allows you to isolate sensitive data while it is being processed. Gartner estimates that, by the year 2025, almost 50% of large organizations will adopt Confidential Computing for processing data in untrusted environments and multiparty data analytics use cases
     
  • Extended Reality (XR) will become commonplace: With hybrid working becoming the norm, -Extended Reality technologies will create an online world that incorporates Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, 3D holographic avatars, video and other means of communication to help people communicate in both the consumer and the enterprise space.[2] Today, enterprise-focused Mixed Reality headsets such as HoloLens 2 allow users to interact with holograms and create immersive experiences that can be used to solve problems in real-life settings ranging across construction, factory floors, operating rooms, hospitals, and classrooms

Low Code/No Code becoming central to  app development:  Another key trend that is emerging is the growing relevance of Low-code/no-code technologies which can be a game-changer by putting technology to automate processes and design applications directly into the hands of those who know their processes best: business users. It allows them to drive process automation at a scale and pace that is not possible with traditional development models while helping them to be more agile and react to changing conditions.

As Indian industry continues to embrace digital technologies and use it as a force multiplier, there are significant opportunities to make tech accessible to individuals and businesses. Indian CIOs are prioritizing a move away from rigid and monolithic ways of doing business to a more agile business and IT architecture where they will be able to better respond to disruptions. Harnessing this digital momentum and new shifts in technology trends will be crucial with the ITeS sector at the forefront of ensuring that cloud is at the centre of new digital experiences.
