#TechFightsCOVID: On the other side of the pandemic

Amidst the socio-economic disruption caused by COVID-19, technology is playing a vital role in reshaping consumer, business and even government behavior. COVID-19 has been a catalyst for technology innovations that are changing our world and has disrupted just about every industry around the world. The technology-led transformation is creating new business models and ways of working designed for an increasingly ‘contact-less’ society. Business leaders across the globe have been echoing the similar thoughts that COVID-19 has accelerated digital transformation like no other and enterprises have seen 2 years of digital transformation in JUST 2 months.

We have seen major shifts that have forced business leaders across sectors to rethink how they operate in virtually every area and more change is sure to come in a post-COVID world. For some of these sectors, the new normal would bring in newfound opportunities and access to newer markets that were untapped before.

Different businesses and industries are deriving benefits from different technologies, but there are some technologies that will drive be pertinent in catalyzing recovery and driving innovation:

In addition to the above technologies that touch almost all the sectors in some way or the other, robotics and 3D printing have also been key in some of the sectors.

Let us look at the sectors that would be at an advantage in a post-COVID world for the tech-enabled business and operating models they have adopted during the pandemic.

What lies ahead?

  • Technology-powered business models have demonstrated excellence and a sustainable competitive advantage during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • It is now time for business leaders to develop a vision for a post-COVID future with technology and digital capabilities at the heart of their competitive strategy
  • This would require careful strategic planning and governance as there are serious long-term consequences to getting it wrong. Furthermore, digital transformation will require acceleration through agile delivery techniques. The time to act is now!
