W2RT – Much More Than a High Mathematical Probability

It is time that women claimed their rightful place as technology wizards in equal measure as men do and matched aplomb. With the intent to evangelize this idea, Women Wizards Rule Tech (W2RT) is a unique program designed exclusively for women professionals in core technologies, from IT-ITES/BPM, Product and R&D firms, with the aim of plugging the leaky leadership pipeline and nurturing women leaders.

A joint initiative of NASSCOM, NASSCOM Sector Skills Council and Data Security Council of India, W2RT was launched at the recently concluded NASSCOM D&I Summit 2018 in Chennai.

While championing this cause, we have to ensure that the gender gap is minimized, particularly when the Fourth Industrial Revolution presents so many new opportunities, hitherto inconceivable. Through extensive training and mentorship, women will have the opportunity to ace new skills, stay relevant and eventually move up the proverbial corporate ladder at a much faster clip.

The initiative was launched on 19th June 2018 in Bangalore, amidst much cheer from 300 participants from 50-odd firms with 450 registrations in tow. Of these, 30 firms have already confirmed registration from Bangalore. In the next phase, we are planning to replicate this idea across several other cities to keep up the momentum.

A glittering array of speakers stole the show and made it inspirational: Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, CMD, Biocon; Debjani Ghosh, President NASSCOM; Narsimha Rao Mannepalli, EVP – Diversity Council, Infosys; Amit Aggarwal, CEO, SSC NASSCOM & Ashok Pamidi, Sr. Director, NASSCOM. The interest level was overwhelming and we were also able to establish linkages with our recently launched Futureskiils platform, which can feed into the high-quality content pipeline on a continual basis.

Who Can Participate?

Any woman employee with experience of two years or more in the technology domain is eligible to take up this program to upgrade their technology skills and thereby building the leadership pipeline.
