CoE – DSAI: Spurring Innovation and Co-Creation

Reiterating our commitment towards nurturing emerging technologies, particularly AI, and leveraging the power of Data Science, NASSCOM along with the Karnataka Government, launched the Centre of Excellence for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CoE – DSAI on the 5th of July. The centre was inaugurated by Mr. KJ George, Minister for Large & Medium Scale Industries, IT & BT, Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, in the presence of other eminent dignitaries: Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Principal Secretary, IT,BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka; Nivruti Rai, Country Head, Intel India and VP, Data Center Group, Intel Corporation; Nipun Mehrotra, Chief Digital Officer (CDO) for India/South Asia, IBM along with Debjani Ghosh, President NASSCOM and Rishad Premji, Chairman, NASSCOM.  Intel & IBM are the founding members.

The Grand Vision: To be the Data Science & Artificial Intelligence accelerator and establish India to be amongst the top 3 global DSAI destinations by 2022.

The Mission: Improve & position Karnataka’s capabilities in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence by enabling development of innovative applications & research, promote usage of DSAl for both businesses and governments, develop appropriate skills & talent and enable policies that accelerate creation and adoption of DSAl solutions for a better society.

The CoE is focused on Smart Manufacturing, Automotive, Healthcare, Agriculture, Energy, IoT, BFSI, Retail & Telecom among others. AI feeds on very large and credible data sets, which is what this centre will provide for training models for both Cloud & On-premise technologies. In addition, Industry-wide Subject Matter Experts will also double up as mentors.

  • Assist in job creation to sustain industry’s growth
  • Platforms for best minds – industry, academia, start-ups/SMEs and government
  • Training, mentoring & sharing best practices
