Identifying and recruiting the right talent to keep up with rapidly growing digital transformation has been a challenge for most organizations, regardless of industry. McKinsey’s research highlighted how COVID-19 has speeded the adoption of digital technologies by as much as five years, with 80% of customer interactions moving to digital channels. In this new business and economic environment, organizations will need to be agile and focus on new strategies to stay competitive.

Despite a reduction in team sizes and budgets, companies can continue to produce results and grow if they prioritize innovation. It is imperative for employees of all departments to keep up with emerging technologies and address any skills gap within teams. Not only does this benefit the organization, it empowers employees to grow and builds loyalty towards the company.

Evolving company culture

In 2022, companies substantially increased the amount of time spent learning technical skills and this number will likely grow this year. For businesses, upskilling brings a more flexible, skill-rich workforce – and a future-proofed one. Staff are motivated and willing to work in jobs that keep pace with industry innovations, enabling businesses to better navigate uncertain times.

Business leaders today are increasingly seeing the value of creating a culture of learning and upskilling their workforce. There has been increased interest in offering professional training in a virtual environment. Infact, Studocu released stats in 2022 including that 42% of companies that use e-learning solutions generate more income.

Building agility in the workplace

E-learning platforms can be a strategic ally for organizations in today’s competitive job market. By upskilling/reskilling employees relatively early and habitually, companies are in a better position to navigate economic challenges and avoid skills gaps as technology moves quickly from trend to trend. Additionally, companies should continue to leverage external and internal data to identify the most in-demand skills of the industry and determine the skills your teams need to be successful in the future.

To make your employees and teams more agile, employees must start by clearly defining roles and responsibilities across the organization. This ensures alignment from the start and eventually enables seamless and efficient workflows.

The next era of business will thrive on learning, and three key trends will be essential for organizations that continue to establish and build a framework for learning: culture, agility and delivery. Specifically,

  • Promoting continuous learning and aligning the learning strategy with the organization’s culture can help improve employee engagement and combat quiet quitting.
  • Remaining agile by enabling employees to learn in the flow of work will help ensure readiness as the pace of innovation continues to accelerate.
  • Implementing a varied strategy for learning delivery will help take entire organizations and every learner into account.

To instill learning as a core company value, leaders must do more than simply offer training programs. Start by clearly communicating the purpose for learning and outcomes you hope to achieve, and support employees with a personalized, remote and scalable workplace learning model.
