In 2025, India’s Global Capability Centers (GCCs) have stepped into a new era—not just supporting global businesses, but leading them. What began as a cost arbitrage model has transformed into a strategic innovation engine, with over 1,700 GCCs and nearly 3,000 units across the country redefining what global operations look like.

Today, these centers do more than execute—they own. Nearly half now manage end-to-end product lifecycles, taking ideas from concept to launch. With over a quarter of the world’s STEM talent rooted here, and three out of four top global R&D centers anchored in India, the country has become the gravitational center for enterprise innovation.

The momentum isn’t just in metro cities. Tier-II hubs are booming, with 82,000+ professionals working in emerging tech corridors, offering resilience, cost efficiency, and access to untapped talent pools. Meanwhile, over 120,000 AI professionals and 185+ AI-focused centers are helping global companies build, deploy, and scale intelligent solutions directly from India.

India’s GCCs are growing fast—24% bigger than they were in 2019—and they’re not just getting larger, they’re getting louder in global boardrooms. Leadership roles are increasingly based here, with decision-making authority migrating alongside investment: $20 billion and counting.

From software giants to industrial powerhouses, enterprises are betting big on India—and for good reason. The question in 2025 isn’t whether to have a GCC in India. It’s how fast you can scale it to stay competitive.
