Welcome to Industry 4.0

Manufacturing has now reached a stage where it’s no more a question of if Industry 4.0 is going to come, it has arrived. Manufacturing and technology organizations need to prepare themselves to maximize the potential that Industry 4.0 possesses. Industry 4.0 is something that everyone needs to be a part of, and ‘Welcome to Industry 4.0’ is a series of programs that aims to lead the way in this incredible industrial revolution.

NASSCOM Centre of Excellence – IoT and the NASSCOM Engineering, R&D Forum recently hosted a session on Industry 4.0 in Hyderabad on the 7th of April. The session brought together the leading innovators, corporates & experts in the manufacturing space to discuss the Future of Manufacturing.

The opening address was delivered by Mr. Prakash Bodla (Regional Chair, NASSCOM Regional Engineering, R&D Forum and VP-Engineering & Site Head – UTC). The Keynote for the session was delivered by Padmashree Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy (Executive Chairman, CYIENT and Ex-Chairman, NASSCOM) who shared his rich experience and insights on Industry 4.0 – The Transformation Journey and the need for innovation.

The insightful addresses from Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy and Mr. Prakash Bodla set the tone for an in-depth panel discussion on ‘Digitizing Manufacturing: Upcoming Technologies and Impact’. The esteemed panel for the discussion moderated by Prakash Bodla included Damodar Sahu from Wipro, Kishore Hirani from Amara Raja Group and Neelam Singh from Trianz. There was an enthusiastic exchange of Q&A’s on various topics like the readiness of Indian companies to adopt technology, technology gaps in manufacturing, government policies to promote Industry 4.0 and technology adoption in India as being different from places like US/EU/Japan.

The conclusion of the panel discussion welcomed on stage some leading innovators in the manufacturing space like COVACSIS, iBot and Imaginate to showcase their unique solutions.

Mr. Sanjeev Malhotra, Director, NASSCOM Center of Excellence – IoT closed the session by speaking about NASSCOM CoE – IoT’s Co-Creation Program, which finds solutions to real world problems by recognizing technology gaps across focus verticals and identifying disruptive/new technologies to bridge these gaps.

The entire session was well received and greatly appreciated by the attendees and participants alike to set the tone for many such programs on Industry 4.0 in the future.
