What is meant by IoT?

IoT stands for Internet of Things, IoT is the interlinking of communication devices, people, machines, appliances, and other objects which are connected through wireless networks.

How does it work?

Devices and objects with inbuilt sensors are connected to an IoT platform, that integrates information from the various devices and applies analytics to share the most important information with applications designed to handle specific desires.

These powerful IoT platforms will point out specifically what information is beneficial and what can safely be neglected. This information is often used to detect patterns, build recommendations, and detect potential causes before they occur.

The information picked up by interconnected devices allows me to make good decisions about which elements to stock up on, based on real-time data, which helps me to conserve time and money.

With the insight provided by advanced analytics comes with the facility to make processes more systematic. Good objects and systems mean you can automate certain tasks, significantly when these are repetitive, durable, or dangerous.

IoT Applications in the Real World

The concept of IoT technology may be simple, but the implications are big enough. The technology is leading an advanced change in the health care, manufacturing, retail, and agriculture industries.

Many organizations are implementing IoT to gain a competitive edge. They mainly focus on increasing operational efficiency through real-time database management and automation of tasks. This empowers them to take a more innovative approach to grow and developing their business ideas.

New applications of IoT technologies allow companies to design and implement more robust risk management strategies.

Organizations are leveraging technology in the form of improved operational performance. IoT devices support advanced functions like task automation and remote-control devices. As a result, organizations can maintain an optimized balance between energy usage and conservation.

Difference between IoT and Web 3.0

Web 3.0

  • Web 3.0 is the 3rd generation, of internet service involving the detailed understanding and analysis of data
  • Web 3.0 is mainly focused to democratize the internet & create an open, connected world where users have control of their data

Features of Web 3.0

  1. Trustless
  2. Open
  3. Permissionless

Technologies included in Web 3.0

  1. Internet of Things
  2. Semantic web
  3. Artificial Intelligence

Internet of Things

  • IoT refers to the network of physical objects embedded with sensors & connectivity technologies that can communicate with each other
  • Enable the interconnection & integration of the cyberspace

Features of IoT

  1. Action
  2. Data
  3. Connectivity
  4. Ecosystem

Technologies included in IoT

  1. ML and analytics
  2. Conversational AI
  3. Low cost, low power sensors

IoT Examples

  • IoT Sensors
  • IoT Tracking and Monitoring system
  • Smart Supply Chain Management
  • Smart Barcode Readers
  • Connected Healthcare System
  • IoT Data Analytics
