Global Apps in March丨Indian Social E-Commerce App Shopsy Grows Rapidly

Abstract: the productivity app MaxSpeedfiy topped the Google Play chart with its downloads growing by 76.4% month-on-month.

Based on SocialPeta's  data, I've sorted out the top 10 mobile apps (non-game) by download and advertising worldwide in March 2022, hoping to be of help to more people in the mobile app industry who try to understand the changing trends of the global mobile market.

Overall, the downloads of global apps rose steadily in March, especially the shopping app Shopsy Shopping App with an astonishing surge, and NewBreak significantly adjusted its ad creatives on both Android & iOS to reduce its creatives on iOS by 92.9% month-on-month.

Top 10 by Download

In terms of downloads, there was an overall upward trend, except for the shopping app Meesho which had a 3% month-on-month decrease. The shopping app Shopsy Shopping App reported soaring downloads in March, receiving 19.1 million downloads from Google Play, up 96.9% month-on-month, moving 16 spots up the Google Play chart to rank No.9.

On Google Play, the productivity app MaxSpeedfiy's downloads surged 76.4% month-on-month to top the chart, with 20% of its downloads from the US.

On the App Store, ZOOM, which was among top 5 in the last month, recorded a 23.2% month-on-month decline in downloads, dropping 9 spots to fall out of the chart.

Overall, social apps and shopping apps occupied most spots on the chart in March. ByteDance had two apps on the App Store chart with their downloads. And, CapCut had the highest growth rate of downloads on the App Store, reaching 700,000 downloads, up 45.8% month-on-month.

Top 10 by Advertising

As for advertising, news apps still topped the chart, and two food-delivery service apps appeared on the iOS Top 10 chart. The two apps were Uber Eats, which was new on the March chart with its 10,000 deduplicated ad creatives, and Wolt Delivery, ranking respectively No.7 and No.5 on iOS.

On Android, the news app SmartNews increased its advertising efforts in March, resulting in over 62,800 deduplicated creatives, up 127.4% month-on-month.

Uplive, a live-streaming app of Asia Innovations Group Limited, adjusted its ad creatives on both iOS & Android in March, reducing its deduplicated creatives on iOS by 7.9% month-on-month to 8200 and increasing its deduplicated creatives on Android by 4.5% month-on-month to over 23,000. 

On the March chart, the reading app GoodNovel had the greatest increase, with over 8400 deduplicated creatives on iOS, a month-on-month increase of over 162.8%. The app had accumulated over 48,000 deduplicated creatives since it started advertising in April 2020. Based on the ad creatives, its main market was the US where it placed over 20% of all its creatives in 90 days.
