Seeking Inputs: The Draft Code on Social Security 2019

The ministry of labour and employment has published the preliminary draft of Code on Social Security 2019 for public comments.  The code is in line with the Government objective to simplify and rationalize various central labour laws  into four different codes i.e. Code on Wages, Code on Social Security, Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions and Code on Industrial Relations.

The draft code on Social  Security is aimed at providing social security benefits to workers of organized and unorganized sector. The draft code will subsume 8 central laws viz.  Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923;  Employees‘ State Insurance Act, 1948,  Employees‘ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952;  Maternity Benefit Act, 1961; Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972;  Cine Workers Welfare Fund Act, 1981;  Building and Other Construction Workers Cess Act, 1996 and  Unorganized Workers‘ Social Security Act, 2008.

The last date for sending inputs to the Govt is 25th October 2019, you are therefore requested to kindly share your inputs with us latest by October 13, 2019 as per the format given below.
