Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) recently notified October 1, 2020 as the date for roll-out of e-invoicing requirement for B2B supplies by companies having turnover exceeding INR 500 Crores. We, along with our Knowledge Partners – Deloitte India, have been regularly engaging with GSTN/ NIC and CBIC seeking clarifications on various challenges and issues that have been highlighted by Industry.

We have been receiving several inputs from our members requesting us to represent on an extension of the October 1st timeline owing to several challenges and issues being faced including the following:

  1. Impact of lockdown due to spread of Covid-19 on business functions making it difficult to implement e-invoicing on scheduled date.
  2. Revised APIs being available on 27 August 2020 – this updated APIs did factor changes post representation by NASSCOM
  3. FAQs are still awaited on many issues

We are in discussion with GSTN and CBIC on industry specific concerns on the start date of October 1, 2020.

In order to relay the factual position of members, we invite you to participate in a survey that will help us go with specific data points on the preparedness of Industry and feasibility of a smooth implementation on 1 October 2020.  The survey will not take more than 3-4 minutes to complete. Please click below on the link to begin the survey:
