How important is being inventive in DeepTech SaaS

Rise in DeepTech Focus

Inventive DeepTech is the synthesis of creative thought and deep technical knowledge. Innovative DeepTech pioneers/forward-thinking entrepreneurs in India are inventing ground-breaking solutions that handle complicated challenges and improve customer experience by harnessing new technologies such as AI/ML.

Being inventive is the need of the hour, this trend is visible across sectors and also in SaaS. During our analysis of ~200 DeepTech SaaS companies, we found that 25% of Indian B2B SaaS companies are inventive DeepTech focused they together have submitted 1,400 patents in the last five years, a significant rise from the previous decade's 574 patent filings. This pattern indicates a huge increase in innovative activities and intellectual property development.

In the near future, innovative enterprises (All B2B SaaS companies that are not inventive DeepTech are classified as Innovative B2B SaaS) will be transformed into inventive entities. They are progressively focusing their capital on developing DeepTech teams, which are a crucial driver of unique IP development.

Growth that DeepTech can provide

Increased focus on innovative DeepTech has the potential to catalyse continuous and powerful development trajectories, with an ARR CAGR of 30-50% projected for Indian B2B SaaS enterprises over the next decade. Adopting innovative DeepTech pave the way for long-term success marked by demonstrated customer empathy and competitive distinction.

Patents filed vs ARR CAGR

  • Greater CAGR ARR growth is proportional to the scale of inventive DeepTech
  • Highly imaginative with a strong focus on intellectual property Over the last 8-10 years, global B2B SaaS companies (>200 patents filed) have demonstrated 50% ARR CAGR growth.
  • An examination of 20 publicly traded B2B SaaS Global companies found a favourable relationship between ARR CAGR and IP focus (number of patents filed).

So, it can be easily deduced from the above analysis that being inventive and DeepTech focused can significantly scale a SaaS firm, especially in the long term. Being innovative can give you a short-term growth spike, but for long-term sustainability, a SaaS firm has to either build a product right from the core using DeepTech.
