Artificial Intelligence refers to the ability of any machine or computer to mimic human capabilities such as recognizing objects, making decisions, and solving problems, etc.

The past decade has witnessed the great rise of Artificial Intelligence. The technology has made an impact in almost every field out there.

The two major reasons for the rapid growth of AI in this decade are: data and compute.

IBM Watson wins Jeopardy:

IBM Watson, a natural language question-answering computer, competes on Jeopardy and defeats two former champions.. Watson is a significant leap of a machine’s ability to understand the context in human language.

NoSQL Database:

Widely used by the big techs such as Google and Amazon, the NoSQL database is a mechanism through which a variety of models can access and manage the data. It is designed for addressing the limitations in data consistency. It is used in applications such as mobile, web, and gaming that require flexible, scalable, high-performance, and highly functional databases to provide great user experiences.

Tensorflow Release:

Google open-sourced its deep learning framework tensorflow, this can be considered as one of the important moments because it gave everyone the tool to build great models. TensorFlow is an end-to-end open-source platform for machine learning. It has a comprehensive, flexible ecosystem of tools, libraries and community resources that lets researchers push the state-of-the-art in ML and developers easily build and deploy ML-powered applications.

Ring Doorbell :

The Wi-Fi enabled doorbell starts recording video automatically when its built-in motion sensors are activated, and a two-way intercom lets homeowners speak with the person at their door via an app.

Release of PyTorch:

PyTorch is an open-source machine learning library based on the Torch library, used for applications such as computer vision and natural language processing. It is primarily developed by Facebook’s AI Research lab (FAIR). Although the Python interface is more polished and the primary focus of development, PyTorch also has a C++ interface.

HTC Vive Pro Eye VR:

As the name suggests HTC Vive Pro Eye is a virtual reality component tailored for precision eye-tracking, giving users a premium immersive experience. Like any sci-fi movie, this VR component allows eye movements and blinks in virtual avatars. It shows expressive, non-verbal interactions in conferences, chat groups and remote collaboration, thus bringing customized experiences for the user.

Future of AI:

With an increase in data, compute and research in the field, AI is moving at a rapid pace. It has become a great superpower which has changed the way we interact and in the future, it may change the way we live our lives. The inventions in Artificial Intelligence are thriving the pace of invention despite the existing pandemic.

The year 2020 has surprised humans in many ways. From encountering a pandemic, addressing a global recession, and witnessing the global geopolitical changes, humanity is standing in ambiguous times. However, not everything is uncertain.
