The raging pandemic had completely distorted the activities of the business sector. Companies were shut down and many resorted to remote working to ensure business continuity. As the situation began to improve, companies have begun to welcome their employees back to the offices. Many have established a hybrid working environment for their employees to ease the transition.

In a recent survey, it was discovered that around 83% of employees preferred the hybrid work model that will give them the flexibility to work between home and the office.

As the hybrid working model gains growing popularity, here is a list of areas where RTLS technology can help in resolving certain hybrid workplace challenges.

#Keeping tabs on people entering and exiting your workplace

A significant portion of companies across the globe are experimenting with a hybrid work culture to help their employees slowly transition into the new norm. Although it may seem like a wonderful concept, hybrid workplaces do require a proper system to perform well. Many companies have set a rotatory work environment in place to maintain a schedule for the in-person and remote employees. But many of them lack a leading-edge technology that will monitor employees entering/exiting the workplace in real-time.

With a combination of smart ID cards and sensors, the RTLS technology enables organizations to know who is in their building at all times. This is especially helpful when employees who are supposedly working at home come to the office to grab an important item for work or any other incident that may mess up the company’s hybrid work schedule.

#Rethinking single access point functionality

Pre-pandemic, most offices had no special system to monitor employees entering/exiting their facility. Some organizations had kept a logbook to keep track of employee attendance and others followed no such practices. In a post-pandemic era, where hybrid models are gaining popularity, many organizations are thinking of creating a single access point to monitor their employee attendance. This is easier said than done since it will cost many of them to re-secure their offices to implement this strategy. But RTLS technology can ensure real-time monitoring of employees entering the building without the need for a single access point.

#Helpful for organizations with multiple regional offices

The RTLS technology has allowed companies with branches in multiple locations to keep track of employees, who sometimes may have to visit/shift between different offices. The networked technology in RTLS solutions enables employers to easily monitor the employees anywhere in their different office locations. If the staff has to visit any one of the regional offices for a business meeting, the RTLS solution will quickly identify their smart badges and transfer the information to the cloud, where the employer can easily access them. This unified technology also allows organizations to offer efficient support to employees who may be working with little assistance in a different location.

#Defining zones with safety features

In many cases, organizations may wish to set up different zones within their workspace. Defining restricted zones within buildings is not an unusual thing for many companies. In addition to monitoring access, this will also allow the organization to manage the safety of their staff within the premises. With the geofencing feature in RTLS solutions, companies can now create numerous zones in their open floor plans and even set up emergency alerts for unauthorized entries.

These are some of the areas where RTLS technology will come in handy to resolve arising hybrid model challenges. With the right approach, this new model of working can bring much-needed convenience to work environments.
