The e-mandate on recurring transaction (e-mandate) was issued by the RBI with a view to balance the needs of card transaction security, and the needs of customer convenience. It enabled recurring transactions by way of a one-time Additional Factor Authorisation (AFA) at the time of creation, modification, and revocation of an e-mandate, followed by automatic charges to the relevant card for subsequent transactions.

The deadline for compliance with the e-mandate was September 30, 2021. The e-mandate caused significant disruption in the industry particularly with start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which offer subscription-based services. These start-ups and SMEs are still recovering from the impact of the e-mandate.

To assess the impact of e-mandate on recurring transactions on start-ups and SMEs, we have released this survey.  If you are a start-up or a SME and were impacted by e-mandate on recurring transaction, we urge you to kindly fill this form. This will help us understand the overall impact of e-madnate on the digital payments ecosystem.

The form is open for responses till February 15, 2022. You can access it here: https://app.surveyhero.com/s/7wps4k7
