In my last blog post “What’s reshaping the future of Jobs in the tech industry?” We talked about how the fundamentals of job is changing – the first pillar of Future of Work.

Now let’s talk about the next pillar of the Future of Work – The Workforce. With the demand for technology increasing across sectors, the technology industry has witnessed significant fresher hiring over the last decade or more. This has resulted in a high share of Millennials and Gen Z in the workforce accounting for ~90% currently. With this next gen workforce taking the centerstage, it is driving the new set of fundamentals which are forming the cornerstone for the HR policies and strategy.

According to nasscom’s report “Future of Work – Unravelling the Intricacies of New-Gen Work” the four key areas that have gained increased importance across the tech industry when we talk about Future of workforce – Increased focus on - Learning and Development, Career Growth and Job Security, New Work models such as Gig and ESG and DEI.

The most interesting part of this year’s study is the inclusion of future workforce and what they think about it when it comes to selecting their employer. Interestingly, learning and growth features as the key criteria across both Millennial and Gen Z employees as well as future employees.

The report also highlights that the future is willing to stay with their current organisation if they get the right EVP. More such insights on what motivates the current as well as future workforce to stay with their current organisation, why they are willing to try the new gig models, growing importance of ESG and DEI, and what the organizations are doing to include these asks; in the report “Future of Work – Unravelling the Intricacies of New-Gen Work”.
