As per the document, the main purpose of these guidelines is to ensure privacy, protect sensitive data and provide security of transactions for every user of a mobile device. This is an advisory document aimed at providing guidelines to the mobile ecosystem in respect of securing mobile devices and services. The document has 5 main chapters:

  • The first chapter sets the context and briefly discusses mobile security goals and the mobile security ecosystem.
  • The second chapter discusses threats, countermeasures, and vulnerabilities in the context of mobile devices.
  • The third chapter discusses threats, countermeasures, and vulnerabilities in the context of mobile communications and networks.
  • The fourth chapter discusses threats, countermeasures, and vulnerabilities in the context of mobile services.
  • The fifth chapter discusses mobile device security testing and forensics.
  • The sixth chapter discusses a checklist of security control measures.

C-DAC has sought suggestions on the draft guidelines. The last date for providing suggestions is September 21st, 2022. We shall be preparing a response on these draft guidelines. In this regard, we request you to kindly share your detailed inputs with suitable justifications to us by or before September 16th, 2022.
