Marketing has never been easier than now. A millennial with a social media presence is doing what traditional marketing used to do back in the days - takes a lot less time to reach a lot more audience. First it was the internet boom, then came the social media evolution, and currently it is influencer marketing that is a subject of interest for many looking at digital marketing. Traditional marketing gimmicks are just effective but social media influencer marketing is efficient as well as gullible according to the specific requirements of the brand or organization.

Influencer marketing came into effect and helped the market bloom in every aspect. Marketing, advertising, awareness, throwing in propositions, measuring current market status, and many more subjects became easier and faster to recognize after social media influence started. This specific influencer marketing segment is way more competitive than any one can imagine. There is a certain hierarchy of influencers in the market. To be on the top of the hierarchy, an influencer needs to increase his/her number of followers as well as the engagement rate. 

How can Social Media Influencers increase the number of followers using digital marketing trends –

  • Be on more than one social media platform:

There are already more than 1 billion social media influencers in the world right now. The competition is very high. Hence the presence should be felt by your audience on every other platform available. Nano to Mega influencers are simultaneously juggling between multiple platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Therefore, to sustain the growth one has to be present in every other platform with their unique and high-quality content for their audience.

  • Collaborate with other influencers – 

Social Media Influencers have a huge network among themselves. Influencers should collaborate more with each other to increase the density and engagement of followers between themselves. Hence collaborations are a must. Just like in India, Bhuvan Bam is a prime example because he has had numerous collaborations with other influencers to increase his popularity. His numbers skyrocketed the day he posted a video collaboration with Amanda Cerny.

  • Collaborate with trendy brands:

Collaborating with trendy brands like The Souled Store and Bewakoof is what helps to attract the major audience in the social networking world. Considering the tremendous growth and popularity of Ajey Nagar aka Carryminati, he was considered for a huge TV commercial collaboration with Artic Fox.  The TV commercial was an instant success for the brand. Also, it helped Carryminati gain a lot of followers for showcasing a different set of talent with the new peppy content of the TV commercial.

  • Interact regularly with followers:

Conducting giveaways, live streams, Q&A sessions is just the way to go for influencers. This helps the audience to feel that the influencer is very approachable and relatable.   • Keep up with the current trend

Keeping up with the trends or maybe starting a trend is what influencers need to look out for. A trend can easily increase the engagement rate of the profile, be it any platform.   • Believe in quality and regular content

The frequency of posting should be balanced with quality. Either you post quality content or don’t. Lack of content quality or being repetitive can actually hamper the amount of followers and downgrade the quality of the profile. So, think creatively and out-of-the-box.

  • Avoid purchasing followers

Recently, India saw a group of popular influencers being called out for buying followers. That hampers the influencer market. The audience starts disbelieving the whole idea of influencer marketing. Hence buying followers may sound easy but is not advisable by any means for the long run.
