Indian landscape is home to the largest workforce population, and finding a suitable job for everyone may be a farfetched dream. This issue became more grave with the arrival of the deadly virus, namely COVID-19. Yes, it did give birth to the new scope and opportunities at the work front, but there was no silver lining for jobseekers. Now when the second wave of the infection is here, securing a job can look like a daunting task yet again. So if you are wondering how to get better at getting that dream job, then dive into these approaches which we at PERSOLKELLY recommend you pursuing:

Build personal profile

Our personal profiles work the same way a company’s website does – It allows the reader to develop that initial impression on the querent. Utilize your social networking profile, doesn’t matter professional or personal, to post about your work, learnings or take on the industry. You could talk about some unique case studies, especially if it has shaped your professional side. Attracting more and more people to engage with you on a public platform will enhance your visibility among the right set of people. You could also actively follow, like, comment on business leaders who are in the same field as you are.

The core purpose of building your profile is to get discovered and get hold of the right job profile. Then, when reviewed by HR managers or hiring managers, there is already an implied understanding of your profound understanding of the subject and your aspirations with regards to the opportunity that you will work on.

Stay connected to your network

Former managers, colleagues can help find a new opportunity. We are living in an era that was never seen before, and neither do we hope to experience it again. Our new perspective on life and everything else around us has propelled us to value good things in life. If anyone lacks it, we assume an unexpected responsibility to help a person find it. Staying connected with people you know personally is a significant practice to help you find your dream job even in gloomy times.

Write to companies you wish to work for

We all know our worth and aspire to be working with a certain set of companies. Always bookmark or make a list of companies that match your work style or aspirations. Your next step includes finding and connecting with the right people (working for the companies you have listed) on professional networking sites and building an organic connection. For example, you could directly connect with the hiring managers with a list of things you would love to do for the company. The connections can also, sometimes, guide you to the right source for applying for the job you deserve or storing your profile in the company’s HR data for any future possibilities.

Alternatively, you can prepare exclusive cover letters for each of the companies you have listed and share the same on their hiring ids.

Prepare for bot-hiring

Companies have evolved to deploy chatbots that mimic humans to involve in a formal conversation for the recruitment process. Companies have used varied mediums to deploy hiring chatbots – SMS, email, social media profiles, messaging apps, and more. If you ever happen to find a bot interviewing you, which will happen a lot now, you must focus on using the right keywords. Bots are skilled (enabling a program in a bot is called adding a skill) in levelling up the conversation basis the right keywords. Therefore, you must equip yourself with the prevailing industry and job-specific keywords. Another important tip is to avoid jargons at all cost. Use basic, simple language with the right keywords to crack your interview with a bot.

Highlight soft skills/transferable skills

Being equipped with transferrable skills is no big deal, but it is as necessary as having the relevant knowledge to do the job right. So why transferrable skills are important? These skills showcase how you may respond in a positive situation and play a defining role in your response to a negative situation.

You must be prepared to explore jobs outside your comfort zone or the industry altogether. You may found yourself accepting a part-time role instead, and therefore you must prepare yourself mentally to let yourself sync with any opportunity that may open for you. Here transferable skills will be key to help you sail the ocean unknown.

Highlight learning certificates

How you spent your time sans work opportunities is an obvious subject to touch upon by the interviewer. Therefore, as you prep for the interview, it is crucial for you to do something valuable. Enrolling oneself in an online course to learn a new skill relevant to your job is one of the best things you can opt for. But do not limit yourself to just learning a new skill; you can learn from whatever you chose to do in your time off work. For example, you could be a volunteer in shaping a platform to allow people in need to find relevant resources. COVID forced us into unprecedented times, and humans needed each other more than anything else. If you were one of the volunteers and have saved one life, we all know you must have learnt something so valuable and precious.

Conclusion

Tough times don’t last, and they become significantly short when you are capable and optimistic enough to beat the odds. By following the tips recommended by us can be a good start for your journey to find the dream job. Feel free to experiment and add your own flavour to these recommendations because originality is everything.
