The Art of Branding and Rebranding

The opportunity of being a part of twitter chat on Branding and Rebranding with Ms. Harlina Sodhi   – who is an entrepreneur, a co-founder of “believe in yourself” which is a community of coaches and professionals for the field of human change and transformation, a TEDx speaker, an  ICF ACC coach,

and with Ms. Kirti Seth  –  Futureskills, Lead at NASSCOM  on 26th April at 6 pm. Dr. Amit Nagpal being the moderator unfolded the conversation with the question  “How to build and maintain a strong personal brand”?

The Art of Personal Branding

Where Ms. Harlina acquainted all of us with two “Ws” and one “H” key for personal branding which is:-

  • Knowing your why” (needs)
  • Figuring out the “how’s” (tools)
  • Tracking the “what” (outcome)

Where at the heart of personal branding lies the ability to be authentic and the art of giving.

Ms. Harlina went forward by describing the “Mantras” of personal branding:-

“ Beliefs= Behaviours = Business”

The second question that Dr. Amit Nagpal raised was “ what are the best personal branding practices for corporate leaders ”? The question that tops the list of our doubts that pops up in our mind when we talk about personal branding.

Ms. Harlina broadened our perspective by asking us to review the question:- “why we want to build a brand for”? whether for legitimacy or to leave a legacy, to build association business. The second step will be to hire a coach for the better reviewing of the plan and then getting hold of the various social tools. Furthermore, she conjured up building a brand as telling a story to which the talent can relate to ” brand stories evoke emotions”, said Ms. Harlina.

The Art of Rebranding through Reskilling

With such insightful talk moving forward, Ms. Kirti Seth bespoke about the importance of skills and knowledge that differentiate oneself from the rest out there in the competition. She further italicized the skills that are used as keywords by the employers such as- learning agility and many more listed by the NASSCOM report on “future skill for the digital economy”. Mr. Chandrakant Patil – harmonized with Ms. Kirti on agility being the most crucial skill, by putting forward “Earlier all business owners needed a business card, a yellow pages ad and a decent product or service to be successful, but gone are those days now. Now you need a website/blog, infographics, marketing collateral, brochures, and a lot more”.

                                                        

Questions about developing skills during COVID-19 that will be looked at by the employer in the post-COVID-19 era had been emanating in everybody’s mind.

In riposte of such questions, Ms. Kirti Seth clearly said to “continuously reskill to do the best irrespective of the place you are in”. She continued with a quote by Peter Drucker “the only skill we need to learn in these times is the skill to learn”.

Are you all eager to know what all courses one can enroll in to optimize the learning opportunity amidst COVID-19?
Ms. Kirti provided the link ( you can find it at the end) for “learners to continue learning even in these tough times. Courses are free and great.”

How companies are remodelling their recruitment assessment structure from status quo i.e checking the education qualification to focusing on the skills that an individual possess.

Ms. Kirti Seth correctly put forward how companies are looking for skills and experience to have the best talent. Quoting the research by “Randstad 2020 talent trends report”.

Not averting from the cynosure of the chat, Ms. Kirti mentioned some tips on rebranding through reskilling:-

  1. Pretend you don’t know to know more
  2. Don’t be superficial
  3. Use this time to go deep
  4. Learning from other’s stories

 

People are unequivocally physically apart due to lockdown, but cannot be separated psychologically. Chat’s like these make us realize the importance of knowledge sharing, augmenting repertoire of knowledge, and accepting diverse points of view on the same subject matter. Where the topic of the chat “ personal branding and re-branding” is the buzz word. Both Ms. Harlina and Ms. Kirti apprised all of us alluding to today’s scenario.
