The Ministry of Labour and Employment has published a preliminary draft Labour Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Condition 2018 seeking stakeholders inputs. The code is in line with Governments objective to simplify rationalize and consolidate all existing labour laws into four major codes i.e. Code on Industrial Relations, Code on Wages, Code on Social Security and Code on Occupational Safety and Health Condition.

The drafts related to other three code have already been published by Government in the past.  The code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Condition is an amalgamation of 13 labour laws such as the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition )Act, Factory Act, Mines Act etc. related to safety, health and working conditions and welfare provisions of employees including leave and working hours.
